We want to see you play your own local folk melody!

Hello friends!

We just had an idea! We want to collect as many videos of our friends – you guys – from around the world playing their own local folk melodies. The idea is to collect all these video and add them to a RETHINK Folk Music YouTube playlist, so we’ll have all of you playing together in the playlist. It doesn’t matter at what level you play your instrument. The most important thing is that you want to play something for us, and that you can record a video with your phone, computer or camera.

Later we will challenge the participants and ask them to play and record one of the other melodies in the playlist…!

If you want to participate, then please send a video-file to us (you can use Dropbox or WeTransfer) to our e-mail: rethinkfolkmusic@gmail.com – The deadline is November 1st.

We’d love to have you involved in this, and create a big and beautiful playlists with folk musicians from all over the world playing their own local folk melodies!

Best of luck and we look forward to receiving your videos.

Two Joker Melodies chosen for another spin in the wheel!

The votes have been cast, and we can now announce two winners!

The Joker Melody from Hammerfest performed by students from Silkeborg will travel halfway through the wheel from Wroclaw to its original home in Hammerfest: Wroclaw -> Cesis -> Bretagne -> Verdal -> Skanderborg -> Hammerfest

The Joker Melody from Umeå performed by students from Wroclaw will travel the other way around the wheel from Silkeborg to its original home in Umeå: Silkeborg -> Riga -> Aarhus -> Ås -> Umeå

All the cities working with RETHINK Folk Music will be re-arranging and interpreting the melodies again, and finally recording a version before sending it to the next city in the wheel.

We’re very excited to hear the results!
