The Giant Violin side project is an interactive wooden installation that plays different local folk music tunes through your bones. It will be touring Region Midt in Denmark throughout 2017.
The Giant Violin is embedded with the newest bone conducting technology that lets you listen to local folk tunes through your elbows, and up to your ears. Through four vibrating panels, it is possible to listen to music without anyone else hearing it. This makes the Giant Violin installation suitable for quiet environments, e.g. libraries.
Giant Violin is an interactive and fun way to get the local folk music out in the local communities. The installation will travel the libraries and schools in the region of Aarhus to let the population know about the RETHINK Folk Music project. If you’d like to know more, please read this article about the violin, featuring our very own Jens-Ulrik (in Danish).
